Grassroots Voter Outreach is hiring passionate and motivated individuals to join our leadership teams as a Geoflex Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Director! The teams will work on HRC initiatives through gathering support for the organization and fundraising in order to help advance LGBTQ+ rights.
 
We are seeking candidates who are open to embracing new communities and ready to handle the exciting challenges that come with relocation and change. You'll be required to understand and engage with the local dynamics of various cities, establish rapport with the local community, and lead a team in an environment that might be completely new to you. For over a decade, Grassroots Voter Outreach has been on the front lines of progressive change, designing and running groundbreaking outreach campaigns in partnership with top national progressive political groups and nonprofits.
 
As an HRC Director, you will:
  • Raise awareness for LGBTQ+ equality and fight back against the 540+ Anti-LGBTQ bills introduced throughout the country this year alone.
  • Empower community members to make their voices heard
  • Manage paid campaign staff
Functions of the Job:
  • Recruitment: Build a team of HRC canvassers by recruiting from within the local community. Interview prospective staff and make hiring decisions.
  • Staff Management: Teach canvassing skills and educate staff on LGBTQ+ and civil rights issues. Work with your staff in individual and group settings, with a particular focus on developing leaders. Cultivate a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
  • Canvassing: Canvass in the field to train new and experienced staff, provide context for issues, and collect donations.
  • Administration/Legal: Manage office budget, payroll, performance, and logistics. Work with HR/Legal to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Strong communication and motivational skills, work ethic, and a desire for political change are essential.
  • Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership skills, and the ability to handle a lot of responsibility.
  • Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications.
  • Geographically flexible to go where you are most needed.
  • Previous field or canvassing experience is a plus, but not required.
