2020 Organizer

United States | Full-time | Partially remote

The coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the holes in America’s safety nets for the most vulnerable. Besides the threat to public health, millions of Americans face unprecedented economic pressures and uncertainty. Lay-offs, furloughs, and cuts in hours or pay mean people can’t make rent, can’t pay the electric bill, or can’t easily feed their families. That’s because over the years, political bad actors have chipped away at any and all supports for working people. And the Trump administration’s response to this crisis has been a disaster in and of itself.

All the while, conservative politicians have continued turning back the social progress we’ve made over the course of decades. New attacks on abortion access, LGBTQ rights, voter enfranchisement, and the climate occur nearly every day. In this year’s elections, not only do we need to stop Trump, but winning a majority in the Senate is just as important—it will either be our best hope or our biggest obstacle to enacting progressive change.

Grassroots Campaigns, Inc. is hiring remote organizers to talk directly with regular people about the problems the country is facing, help them take direct action on the issues, and recruit them to make a difference in the 2020 election. For now, we’re running phone bank campaigns on a range of issues, like helping people vote by mail, pressuring governors into more responsible COVID-19 plans, and getting voters involved to protect education funding. As soon as it’s safe, organizers will hit the ground in Colorado to run in-person canvasses and turn out voters in a critical Senate race.

  • Spend focused time each day directly contacting voters
  • Recruit a team of 5-20 volunteers and paid staff
  • Train and manage your team to be good phone bankers, canvassers, and recruiters themselves
  • Run an effective Get Out The Vote campaign in the general election

  • Excellent communication and motivational skills
  • Poise and sense of humor in high-stakes, ever-changing work environments
  • Proven ability to shoulder significant responsibility
  • Exceptional work-ethic
  • Previous field or canvassing experience is a plus, and may lead to opportunities for additional leadership positions

  • Positions are remote for now, but relocation will be required closer to the election
  • This is a full-time position that requires long and irregular hours--once election campaigns start, you should be prepared for a “24/7” approach to hitting your goals
